This 2005 story generated 524 comments and counting! I guess plenty of people do care about depleted uranium.
I think this DNA binding thing needs to be hammered home by the people with the courage to fight against DU. We need more quotes and statements in the press like this one. It doesn't matter if DU's toxicity is worse than its radioactivity - it's still a radioactive alpha emitter nestled up to some DNA. The heavy metal toxicity and radioactive effects will probably be synergistic anyway.
