Apparently a new procedure for detecting even small amounts of DU in urine even 20 years later has been developed:

If confirmed, this should be a great tool for use in studies comparing rates of cancer, birth defects, etc. in exposed individuals to the non-exposed, and therefore more reliably determine the degree of danger posed by DU inhalation.
